Almost 14 more days, and this year I have decorations. Actually I did a little bit last year too, but this these little hearts are in our school room. I love them, the kids love them! They are also a good reminder for me to "put on love" as my Lord commands. So a quick post tonight to say "Love is in the air!"....

Wedding Card

I needed a Wedding card this week. So I made this one, using what I think are the Bride's colors based on the invitation. She uses my favorite color combinations, and it was a huge delight to put this together for them.
I was also delighted to see Julia playing with text in a similar way too. You can see what she did here. I just love text, and to me there isn't any better text to use than God's word. So I used portions of 1 Corintians 13.

For any of you still checking in with my, please forgive my lack of posts lately. The Lord seems to have my blogging days limited for the time being, so I will endeavor to post when I can. I recieve no benefits from blogging other than the pure joy of sharing, and the connections that this makes. I certainly have been creating a lot, have more than a few photos in files just waiting to be shared with those who stop by. So when the Lord provides me with the time and energy to share I will.

I certainly have much to be thankful for and I found myself needing to express my gratitude in the form of some thank-you cards.
I was determined to use (and play with) some of the free digital images I received from 'ETC.'. I was so pleased with how this particular one turned out. I love everything shabby, and I don't know what woman doesn't like roses. I chose to color these ones a shabby peach. My coloring was done in a mix of watercolor pencils and your basic pencil crayons.
I had so much fun playing with the coloring on this image as well as changing out the sentiment, which is very easy to do. I simply cut a rectangle slightly smaller than the inside frame and stamped a nice 'fitting' sentiment (get it:} fitting,lol!!, o.k. maybe so maybe that wasn't all that funny ), to express my gratitude to a very special someone. Oh, and I guess I forgot to mention, that this image was enlarged from the original size.

I'll be doing this again for sure.

SWEET TREATS!

It was such a sweet treat to be one of the recipients of a give away at ETC. Wasn't that so nice of them? If winning weren't enough, I got to select whatever images tickled my fancy.---(giggle)

Well, I was and am totaly in love with the 'Songsheet Bird Printable' image (more blogging coming with that one, I PROMISE!), 'Getting Sentimental', and 'The Lord is My Shepherd'. Thanks, ETC!!

For my first 'play-date' with these I chose the "Getting Sentimental" set. I began by painting an Altoid tin white, 'cause that's just the shabby girl that I am!---LOL!! Then I stuffed the little tin with heart candies that are filling the shelves in the stores. I made a wrapper/sleeve for it and tied it with ribbon.

Wouldn't these make great party favors?

They are everywhere, and they are all so adorable and oozing in cuteness! And they make quiet the theme for any event you have planned. I have seem them used for Father's Day, Baby showers, weddings,,,, and the list goes on and on. So while planning an event in this neck of the woods (snicker), I made a little owl ensemble, and then decided they were cute enough to make one for ourselves to keep. The event has come and gone, but mine are still sitting on my mantle, waiting to be replaced with Christmas decorations. It is a reminder to myself, to be a 'Wise' mother as God has outlined in His word. I have the kids looking up verses from day to day too, and recording them in a special book.
I took two patterns I found and combined them to make my own. You can find them here and here. Just note, I did not follow this pattern very closely at all. I also took some inspiration from here

Perfect Pumpkin Presentation - say that three times,LOL!!

I know Thanksgiving is long gone, at least for us Canadians. So are all the goodies I created. But I really wanted to share my favorite way for giving them away this year. I saved the best for last. I brainstormed for awhile and came up with what I thought was a pretty good way of presenting them to my friends.

Simple Dimple:

Cut paper into strips. Punch a hole at one end of the strips. Lay the strips around in a circle with the holes matching up in the center.
Cut out two of the largest die from the flower set "Blossom". Punch a hole in the center and lay it on top of your strips of paper. (I choose to re-enforce my flowers. I glued my paper to some leftover cardboard cereal boxes, and ran the through my die cutting machine.)
Next I cut two of the largest dies from the flower set "Nested Flower". These I also re-enforced these the same way as my previous ones,and used them as my stems. Poke a hole in the center of these as well.
Here is where I tied all my pieces together. I tied a knot in my string (in this case I used Raffia) and started to thread through all my holes, ending up at the top of my pumpkin. By this stage you should have gone through all your strips of paper, the Blossom flower and lastly your Nested flower. Tie a knot and cut off the end.

Now I turned upside down this entire piece, placed my cookie bag upside down as well. I took the second "Blossom" flower that I had cut and took one strip at a time and stapled it to the flower.

You can turn your pumpkin right side up now. You have one thing left to do, the stem. However, there is a little bit of trick to this. It is probably one of those things where it is harder to explain than it is to do.LOL! (Bending the "Nested Flower" a little before tying it on will help a lot.) Glue the "Nested Flower" together and place an elastic band around the top to hold it in the shape you want. Once the glue is dried you can take that band off. Now all you have to do is add your tags, leaves and pretties!! I had so much fun making mine. It was fairly easy to do, and they were really pretty when I was done.

I could not resist making some of them in one of my favorite styles: Shabby Chic! I had purchased some wallpaper by Debbie Travis, (that stuff is gorgeous!!!) and this project was just begging me to use it here. So, I did! I was filled with glee,hehe! SEE:

Everything Grows Better with LOVE

A-while back I saw an idea that was shared on this blog, she bought a canvas (a much larger one than I have though) for her daughter to paint, and then paint over as many times as her little heart wants. Thought this was an awesome idea, and saved it for future use.
I took that same concept and spent some awesome one-on-one time with each of my kids this afternoon. We painted on an 8x10 size, and I am hoping that over the long cold winter months here, that we could do more of the same. It was so relaxing and fun. I am sure I could think of better words to describe this afternoon, but sometimes words aren't enough.
My heart is so full of gratitude to the Lord this Holiday season, for all His goodness to me. One of the things I am thankful for the most, is Family.
The kids were having a wonderful time painting. For myself, it was a wonderful expression of my heart, and I know when I look up on my wall I will remember with my heart, all that the Lord has done for me.

Presentation- Everything Pumpkin

With Thanksgiving right around the cornere, I decided to do some baking this past week.

Don't they look yummy? I made some to give away, and a small few to keep for ourselves. Apparently I didn't leave enough though for us to keep, everyone around here asked (begged) me to make some more. LOL Since I don't do much baking, and these were so well loved, I made another double batch.

You just can't help but eat some of them right away. You take your "baker's rights" (lol) and taste test a few, making sure they are good enough to share with the family.

Then you share it with the family like this:

Now that you know they look and taste good, it's time to share it.

The holiday naturally make me think of a lot of things and people that I am thankful for. Giving a few of these treats away to someone is just a little way to say "Thanks", "Thinking Of YOu", "I Love YOu".
Now, for the ones I give away, presentation is just as important for me as the contents.
Chances are if you are reading this post, that you are a crafter and already have similar, or exact supplies on hand. If you do not, don't let that stop you here. Wrap up them goodies anyway you can, get them out there and bless someone.

Here's one way of presenting some taste treats.

Peel off the label and wash your can(s). (Note: stay away from cans that had contents with a strong odor, for example - fish. You just might ruin your cookies). I used the cans that held the Pumpkin that I had just used to make my cookies. To keep the top edge of my can smooth, and free from injury, I used a Pampered Chef can opener.

For my can, I tried to keep it fast and simple, making it easy for me to mass produce. I took the dimensions from the label I had peeled off, cut my paper to match those dimensions and attatched it to the can. Some finishing touches----and----VOILA!! Nothing fancy, but hopefully "purdy".

Place the coookies inside the tin, close the lid and deliver the goodies with a smile and maybe even a {{{hug}}}.

We decorated cans last year too, and I am thinking that these would be great little containers for Christmas goodies too!! If you get around to creating your own decorated tin cans, leave me a link in the comments as I would love to see your creations too.

There was a time when I used to stay up late, clean my room and re-organize it. I loved doing that! It was so much fun. My mom would always found a 'new' room in the morning. lol. That's what I am doing tonight, re-organizing my Blog. So stay tunned, thing are going to change around here a little.

Feels real good to do this again. After a huge move, and desperately trying to stay afloat with all the missed homeschooling, I was tempted beyond what I could bare tonight. It's not like I haven't been creating anything to post and share with you, I haven't taken the time to photo, load and dialogue about it as I did pre-move.
So now that we are fairly settled (still desperately trying with the school though), I can justify taking a little late night to create something. What made me do it? --- well Julia Stainton did! When I saw that she had designed her own set, it took me less than 0.2 seconds to fall in love with them. I love her designs, that is no surprise. Which brings me to why I am posting tonight.
It was just the "fun" I needed tonight. Play with some new dies, supplies and a chance(who cares if it's a small one) to win those two sets by Julia. If I don't, well: I had fun trying. Here's my take on the sketch. You can find all the info

I finished my February Calendar topper (uuhhm, a long while ago), and have been meaning to post. It's almost like a mini book, and I added lots of verses that remind me of Christ's love. The one you see on the front though, is my favorite.

It took a little longer than planned.......

but here I am (finally) and ready to post and share again.

This particular project took a little longer than I thought too. Which is just fine by me, because I think it turned out better than my first plan. I thought it would be nice to make a little book about how my DH and I met, and all of those details close to my heart. It's hard to remember the details 17 years back. So I kept it simple and I am happy with it.
I used this set ,this, and I love how it turned out!!

Here's the first page. I kept it simple and to the point. There is so much more infomation and details I could have added, but these sum it up nicely. I decided to add a little snipet of crocheted lace that my Mother-in-law made for my wedding dress, it's tucked under "The Beginning".

This is the second (middle) page.This is the picture that my mom took of us just before leaving for our first read official date (just the two of us). He took me to the Phantom of the Opera. I spent just as much on my dress and he did the tickets. At that time, the dress cost me $120.

This is the last page. It describes the details about our first date.

This is the back.

Here it is, displayed in my room. I decided to decorate the frame as well. It says,
"there's no remedy for love,nothing can change the way I feel. I'm head over heals, for worse or for better."
That was from the song that was played at our wedding. I added here, the remainder of the crocheted peice, and placed it under the 'LOVE'.

That was my Vanlentines gift to my Hubby.

However, three of my children were up until the wee hours of the morning with the stomache flu. when I recieved notice that one of my cards was accepted for publication. Long story short, I'm in the March/April issue of PAPERCRAFTS, on page 44. Don't know that I have the words to properly describe how this feels, (since it's my first time ever!!!) there's too many words that apply. I won't bore you with all of them, but really wanted to share this with you.
I recieved my issue in the mail, and an extra one to boot. So that means I have one issue to share with you. Aren't you lucky, LOL! Do you want one..? How do you get one, you ask? Here's how:
This weekend we celebrate Valentines Day! To me this day means a lot of different things. The joy of paper crafting........

is staying up late, in quiet, doing what I love to do. So, the other night I made a package of gift cards for a friend. This is one set from CTMH I just love and have used it alot.
I have got more to share, hopefully sooner than later. (where does the time go!LOL) I have been doing lots but as any blogger knows, it takes some time to get it posted.

Christmas is in the details.

This Christmas held so many wonderful details.
Here's a few of the details that defined this year for us.

I've had this paper by DaisyD (Moda) for a long time. I should have bought more, as I have the fabric line for a Christmas quilt (which will be on my list of things to complete in '09). But regretably I did not. Still I thought this would be fun for the kids to do and add to the Christmas decor in the home. And so it was that we began to anticipate Christmas.

Another detail I love is my calendar (you've seen it before). I finished my "December" topper and I used the calendar. I am so loving having this!! I am using a Steadtler black, non-permanent marker.

Before I new it, we were taking a much needed break from school and getting ready to have a full house, to enjoy each others company.

One of mr favorite memories of the year was having my mom stay with us (agian). She brought little things for the kids like this little adorable chocolate reindeer.

She helped in the kitchen.
Read to the kids from a special book about Christmas Stories.
Played games with the kids.
Tucked them into bed one night.
Watched "Horton Hears a Who" with us.
Was just 'with' us for four wonderful days.
Has boughten me some of my favorite decorations for our home.

Some highlights I don't want to forget.

Sledding

The Christmas Story by the Skarbo's at our Church.

Doing laundry at both my mother's and mother-in-laws because ours broke over the holidays. ( I wouldn't have those wonderful memories otherwise. It was some of the best game playing we've had.)

My brother bringing a 'home' version of "the Marble Slab". HMMMM homemade ice cream flavors. The kids enjoyed this so much. Secretly:) (which isn't so secret on blog land is it?lol.) I hope it becomes a tradition.

Watching DS assemble the Dump Truck.

Stying up late watching the hockey game, while playing Monopoly with the kids.

Kind neighbour who dropped of some sledding helmets for the kids, and they went everywhere with them. Played monopoly with them, they almost slept in them. LOL!

Staying up really late playing Rooke with my brothers. Real late, as late as we have ever stayed up! So much fun.

But now:

All four of my Pumpkin pies have been eaten.
The leftovers have been eaten up.
The decorations are stored away for next year.
All the chocolate is gone:

My house is just about put back to normal, and for the most part I have recovered from the holidays. How about you? LOL

NOTE : None of these details would be recorded had I not had a DH who bought me a new camera. He said he actually noticed me taking less pictures this last year. That is why two are better than one. I honestly didn't realize. Oh!, I have so much to learn and I am having so much fun learning it.

It's -27 degrees outside right now.....

and it feels good to be inside, warm and creating.
What a great afternoon I had. I had the privilege of creating with a dear friend today. As soon as I saw this, I new that I had to give it a try for myself.
I followed the links to all the little tips I could read. I even took a book out of the library. Yet I wouldn't have gotten half as far as I did had I not received a little help from my DFIL (dear father-in law). He was a wonderful help and even let me use some of his tools. THANKS DAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So after a wonderful afternoon, I have one necklace for a Christmas gift. I will certainly be making more of these in the future. It really was pretty easy I think. Even though I think I could get better, it's not bad for the first try I (modestly) think. LOL.

It was so much fun, and I can't wait to play some more with these.

Some more Home Decor.

This is just one of those things that HAD to get done. I have been wanting to do a layout of my Grandmother's bible for awhile now. Then the other day, I was inspired to make some sort of 'visual' reminder to read more of my Bible and grow more spiritually. Somehow I managed to combine the two and I am glad I did.
I managed to place the Bible in the frame in a none permanent way. I cut off the ends to a clear card box, and slid it in. I had so much fun making a "Skrinky Dink" frame to accentuate one of the verses I wanted to Highlight. As you can see, I also had too much fun putting flowers and a Tag over the top as well. I used an imaged from the Thomas Kinkade line from none other that Cornish Heritage Farms. (reminder to self to get this bookmarked). This image reminds me to spend "much time in secret".
I also used the Vintage Ledger from CHF (probably one of my favorites), and wrote down all the verses that I want to memorize and bring it all together for me.
There's a few images here, trying to capture it the best I can.

I will probably have some more home decor items soon too, if I can manage to get some time to work on them.

Isn't it lovely?!

I totally love everything Shabby!!
I picked this up this old window frame in my travels some years ago. (actually, I have a few) I can't part with them! This one in particular, it was just a nice size. Well, I am I ever glad I kept it. It is going to be my source of inspiration for the coming year, it will (hopefully) keep me organized with my scrapbooking for this next coming year too. Most importantly, I hope it will keep me focused and balanced, and remind me of the important things too.
As you can see, I changed it from a window frame into a calendar. I decided to start with Jan, not just because it's the first month of the year, but because I was inspired to do so. This one just seemed to come a little easier than the others right now. I also don't need to do all of the months right away, kinda makes it more fun that way. I think I will have a pile of fun decorating these, it's gonna be a great way to try some techniques I have been wanting to try as well. The best part I think though, is getting over my paper hoarding problem. You know, buying paper you like, and then too afraid to cut it up, 'fraid you won't have anymore of it. Well, now I just get to look at it ALL YEAR LONG! That was enough to help me cut it up, use it, and then look at it.
I used one of my favorite snowy scenes from Thomas Kinkade.( made by Cornish Heritage Farms, doing this now, I might NEED some more images,lol) It was a snowy night scene, and made me feel like staying inside, nice and warm. Starying up late and ringing in the new year with my family.
The Vintage Ledger, 6x6 Scrapblock, (by Cornish Heritage Farms) was used to do my little squares. I think it's pretty Shabby!
I also used my 'Magic Moments' from Close to My Heart. I love the clock for the same reason I have said before, I can 'SET' the time for anytime I want. In this case, just before you start to 'count down', 10, 9, 8, 7 ,6 ,5 ,..... which is why I stamped the numbers going down as I did.
Yet the reason why I love this ensemble so much is because of the verse from God's Holy word. It speaks to my heart.
There's a whole lot of other things I used too, but these were the highlights.

So, just me tonight, putting to GOOD use all the stuff I store, LOL!

Seriously though! It's crazy busy, and no signs of letting up! It is so busy, that I am barely having time to take pictures of the things I create before I give them away. (which doesn't help a blogger much does it,LOL) I am just one of those people who like to have a visual file in case I ever want to duplicate it in the future and can't remember exactly what it looked like. So these are some of my fast and furious pictures: no time for proper lighting even!

The rose card (stamp)is a new addition to my collection, and I was playing around with it, seeing how it looked and what I could do with it. The candle was something I have been wanting to try: boy is it ever easy! So I am planning on making this my gift for my neighbours and some friends this Christmas season. The trouble is deciding what I want to stamp on them!? That's always the hardest part :Deciding,LOL.

I have something to post. I am zapped after another school week, and an afternoon of crafting with 7 girls. So there really wasn't much left of me when I got to take a little time for myself.
I so enjoyed walking the dog tonight. The fall here is just wonderful, I know it isn't going to last. It will end: but in the mean time I am enjoying it. I was out in only a sweater tonight! IT was beautiful. Only now are the leaves starting to fall.
As I needed to make a "Thank U" card, and because I was feeling pretty zapped as it was, I went blogging for some inspiration.(Love that there are so many wonderful bloggers out there willing to share their creations, "thank you" al you crafty bloggers!!!)
Erin's one of those. So all thanks To Erin tonight, or I might not be posting. Such a simple card she posted from someone who posted.....etc,LOL. So I played with it, because it also involved my new toy. And this is the result. Make sure you check out Erin's version though, it's very classy.

Who doesn't like something new to play with!? I have wanted to get one for a little while now, and wow! All I can say did I ever get it FAST, and it is soooooooo much fun to play with! Even though I got it on Friday, I was a good and restrained myself. So with school done, and a clean house........I played tonight with my two favorite sidekicks. They had so much fun with it too. DS just loved turning the crank, and DD's creative ideas were swimming in her head. DS wanted to make me a Birthday card (who cares if it was late, it was pure delight for me to watch him put it together!!) That was almost better than the card itself. Here's what he made tonight...

but today was another beautiful September day. Yesterday I was out walking the dog, all the while wishing I had the camera. So today after we got out to the front of the house I remembered and sent one of the boys back in for it. I am so glad I did. Today was not as sunny as yesterday, however, some of us were still out in shorts and t-shirts. For our neck of the woods, it is delightful. Even though I know the good Lord created the snow for its purpose, I am not eagerly awaiting its arrival. So I snapped a few shots today, and I have a few favorites.
This is the bridge that the kids won't go over, but have so much fun going through the trenches. Thankfully there's no water and mud down there.

September is so busy, and it's only half over,LOL!

September has been a full month around here with getting school started. This year I'm in grade 4,3,and 1 all at once,LOL! Seriously though it's been probably our best year so far of getting off to a good start with Homeshooling.
With trying to get school going, and the new dog (that I am so happy to have), it's been busy, busy, busy. I am so surprised that I am so happy to have the dog, or that I could BE this happy to have the dog, is probably more like it. I love walking him, and the kids love running with him. I finally have a match for my daughters energy,LOL!
And with the dog comes responsibility right? I couldn't resist taking this shot of the boys. One with the shovel and the other with the bag.

And here's a PLUS side to homeschooling:

That's my DD reading while petting Caper. This picture means alot to me. She has her hearts desire granted by having a dog, and I delight so much in seeing her become such an avid reader. She puts me to shame.

This month I also celebrated a birthday, the age not being important. It was a really lovely day. It started out with my kids being really quiet downstairs while I got breakfast ready. Turns out my daughter was making me this:

Didn't she do a great job? Did I mention she did this all by herself (proud mom of course!) All my boys signed it, and I think it is one of my best Birthday gifts!
And so, now September it seems is half over and I still have so much to do. I guess I should go scratch another thing off my list of "to Do".

Please welcome the newest member of our Family

I really don't know where to start this story of ours, and I certainly don't mean to make this too long of a post. However we are so pleased to have a new member in our home. Please welcome Caper.

Our children has reached over the fence and have enjoyed petting him for the last year or so. He is such a good dog, and we are so delighted to have him in our home. Probably one of the happiest is my Daughter. She has such a love for him and dogs in general. I am so pleased that the Lord provided this for her. We kinda thought this would be something that needed to wait for awhile. I am so glad the Lord thought otherwise. So she really thought she would have to wait a long time. So when this opportunity came up, she was thrilled and patient at the same time. She really amazed me. And you know, I didn't get the family shot I thought I would, but boy is this a beauty:

As for me, not growing up with dogs, and a few bad experiences has attatched a little fear in me that really shouldn't be there. But God is good, and I am so thankful that I followed the facts, and not my emotions. He has been trained well and I am so glad to have him. I get to miss all the house training stages, and I have four eager helpers.

And maybe you will relate to this, but there has to always be someone not looking at the camera. Here's that family shot that didn't exactly turn out like I wanted because Caper's not looking. But Oh well. Since we have him for awhile, chances are that we will have plenty of opportunities.

And as we speak, dog is laying on the couch next to DH, who by the way is pretty happy too.
As it turns out, it is his actual Birthday this week too. It's his 5th Birthday.
I only hope he is just as happy to be here as we are to have him.

Too cool!!

Honestly, I have been creating things, but you'll have to hang in there to see it. We are busy getting ready for the next school year. I am trying ever so hard to be more organized and ready for this year. So today was a "getting organized" day. Now that we are getting back in the mind set of school, I had a few minutes with my two older children. My girl say," I don't like to watch stuff like this before going to bed". But the boy says,"COOL!". And in 'type' you can't even emphasize it enough. But even though it has nothing to do with paper, it was just too "COOL" not to share.

It's about time(LOL)........and a request.

So I finally get to post. Actually I haven't had too much time to play or create lately. Summer is just too busy and too nice for me to stay in. I might (the word is used very strongly here) get to post more this week as my three older ones are in day camps all this week. But the week is filling up really quickly it seems. I don't know of anyone who has a blank "to Do" list, LOL.
So here's one card I did recently. "Perfect Love" or in this case, "Purr-fect Love".
1 John 4:18 says perfect love casts out fear, and that is what this card is about.
"There is no fear in love, but perfect love
casts out fear, because fear involves torment."
1 John 4:18
Fear should have no place in my life. As a Christian I need not be directed by fear, or let it lead me. I am human though, and earnestly seek to be stronger in this area. I hope this card is a blessing to you, as well as the thoughts that go with it.

On a different note. This is one of those happy accidents I had recently. I love happy accidents, if only I was this smart on purpose, LOL!
I recently bought some ceiling panel to use for a project, turns out it is a great table protector. Not that my table is worth a lot, but I would like to keep it looking nice. So the ceiling panel, or light cover (got it at my local hardware store, and not expensive at all) is sitting on top of my table. It means I can get ink on it and wipe it off with ease with a damp cloth. I have gotten liquid glass on it that I just pick off after. So I am very happy with my accident. I happened to get a square one, so I might have to go and get a larger rectangle one. Not to mention it's a nice large surface to work on. Hope you find this tidbit helpful.

Now I have a little request. I bought this lovely stamp at a local Garage sale, and I have no idea who makes it. Would you happen to know?

Oh, its been a busy, wonderful summer. Kids are up later and it seems by the time everything is settled for the day I am too tired to play with my stuff. So how about if I post my room? Interested. It's a work in progress, for sure. But I have been so delighted to add a few pieces. I have a few more I am looking at, but all in good time. First I was so pleased to pick up this shelf over my computer area for 5 bucks at a garage sale. Here's my computer area....

Imagine my delight while shopping for goodies as a local thrift store when I found another one, only in better shape. Unfortunately it was a little more, but when I divided the cost for the both, it was more than reasonable. So now I have two, see...

I am really happy with both of them. Right now I am housing my Cornish Heritage Farms stamps (don't have a lot, so they fit nicely here). And anything I feel like decorating with.

My Close to My Heart stamps are stored in empty Garbage bag boxes covered in craft paper. I cut up old cardboard books from the library that I then covered in some wallpaper. I have added tabs to the top, but I haven't written on them yet. On my list of a thousand things to do list, LOL.

The boxes are stored on an old Ikea Roll top shelving unit. I LOVE THESE THINGS!!! Means I can close them up, and fake a neat and tidy room,LOL.

One of my added pieces of furniture has been a much needed table. We had purchase a folding table, but it clearly wasn't meant to have four little children, nor was could in handle alot of stamping and even weight. So I found a delightful old table at a local thrift store and payed 40.00 for it, including the four chairs. I like it alot. It means I have a little more width on this table, and it has two leafs that I can take out and make smaller (not that I will with how I work, all spread out,LOL) It's completely covered as we speak.

The skies the Limit!!!

I actually got another card done today!! I love the new Fifth Avenue Paper by Making Memories. So thought I would use that as my inspiration this afternoon and see what happened. I love my time to create, and the skies the limit when I get a chunk of time like this. There are also no limits to my solos. I love them. I have made so many random stamped papers now with my solos. My favorites being "d", "f", "b", "l", and "a". The squares seem to be what I use the most. But I'm sure I would have just as much fun with the circles if I pulled them out.
I also pulled out my old "Promis of Spring" set. I really like this set, and it will run the mile with me I'm sure. I chose the sentiment from the set that says 'joy of life". Christ came that we would have life, and have it more abundantly. (John 10:10)I discover new truths to this every year in my walk with Him. Life is full and complete with Him. He is the "joy of life".

Well after being sick twice, trying to finish up school, keep up with the June orders, and an event I was organizing and decorating I was finally ready to get back downstairs tonight and play. I will admit, I sat down and had no idea where to begin tonight.
This is where blogging is so helpful. I ended up over at Aaron Brown's little stampin' place and was delighted to see all the wonderful things she had made with the Sarsparilla Papers and goodies. She inspired me tonight, and thus I was lead in a great direction I like to think. LOL.
My DH's birthday is coming up. And what better thing to do than to go to the local Stampede here. "Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth" is what they call it. So I needed to make a card. But I like to go all out on cards like this. I am still waiting for my Sarsparilla Paper to come, so I had to improvise and make my own. What do you think...?

For the small amount of people that actually read my blog.....I'm sick. I thought it was just alittle dizzy spell this afternoon, but after a little medicinal help, along with a little nap. I feel no recharge. I have a little headache along with some aches, pains and chills, and probably a slight fever. I'll spare you the rest. LOL.
It seems I have been a little too busy lately. Too busy to get onto the bulletin boards, or read other blogs. I am thrilled if I can keep this blog of mine up. So to my delight tonight, I came across this from Pammie (note to self: update my blogging list). She has nomminated me for an award called the Art de Pico.

Thing is, I don't know what to say. No big head here, I just know how much inpiration can flow from her too. There are some real talented crafters out there. I would love to actually meet some of them. Like Julia, and Korin, yes Pam too. To sit and chat with them would be amazing I think. Not just because they are crafters, but because of their faith too. I would love to hear their testamonies.
So if they will take it, I will pass the award onto Julia Stainton, and Korin Sutherland.

Digital Dilema

OH, I have such a big digital dilemma every time I go to do a page now. I love how far our technology has come, on the other hand, when I have sooooooooo many shots of an even it can be hard to narrow it down. Case in point- My daughter just had her birthday, so we got her a new bike. I don't know how many shots I took, but I had a lot that I especially liked, and it was difficult to choose. So I printed all that I really liked and was determined to get them all on a two page layout. There are times when I like to be careful how much of the photo I crop off. I like to zoom in a lot, but that leaves you no cropping options. And with this particular layout, I wanted my children to remember what the street looked like when they look back. Those are important things to remember.
I have had this layout sitting on my table for a little while. Just wanted to get it done. I thought I might do something to the chipboard letters, then thought,"they're fine white". Love that about the chipboard from Close to My Heart.
So I glued it down. I was going to print off my journaling, then looked over at my tags that I used last night, and said, "that will work!". Used my "Spot on Backgrounds" from Close to My Heart for my journaling lines, and tucked it behind the picture to pull out. Voila!! (like I created anything magical,LOL!!)
There are a few reasons why I chose the pictures I did. I love how this is really such a big bike for my youngest. I really wanted to remember how he is sitting on the seat and learning to balance. I love the two shots of D and E pushing their shoulders down and assuming the "really fast" position. That gets me. Of course the one of all four of them is so cute! I wanted a picture of them first getting onto their new bikes, and I even love how (this wasn't planned) I am in the layout. And as you scrapbookers know. That doesn't happen very often as we are the ones holding the camera. But I am in there, even if in shadows,LOL.

Our Unsung, Real, Everyday Hero

Last year for Father's Day we made Hero sandwiches. This year we are doing the same. And as I have grown and seen my Husband in a new light (being a Father), I have come to appreciate him more and more everyday. He balances me out, makes be better and is a wonderful father to our four children. (IE playing Monopoly with the kids until the game was done last night. And having all four of them help clean the van this afternoon, while I went out for coffee with my dad.) He is our unsung Hero. The battles our men have to face these days are great. (I can be one of those battles some days, LOL!) He works so hard!!! Just so we can have it a little easier, and a little nicer. I doubt I appreciate him enough!
It doesn't always work this way, but I am pleasantly surprised with his card this year. It says exactly what I would like to say. Took me longer than maybe selecting a Hallmark card, but that's not the point,LOL!!
I might put something in the inside like this:

Fathers are wonderful people

Fathers are wonderful people

For, somehow, Father seems to be

I promised a little while ago to post this card I made. I made two versions. One was for fun, and while I was at it I thought I would make a male version (for Father's Day). I used one of my favorite new stamp sets from Close To My Heart, called Spot on Backgrounds. I am going to have so much fun with this set I think. And I am finding this card layout so easy and so versatile.

What I have been up to this evening......

another card, for another special occasion. I am anticipating that some people close to us will be able to bring home their new little one after a little detour. The baby was premature. Has been in the hospital for quiet awhile now, had one operation, and we hope that all is good now for this little guy to finally come home. This little one has done well, all things considered, and it is God who receives all the glory for that. So with hopefully his homecoming this next week, Lord willing, I NEEDED to make a very special card.
(The card uses a full 12x12, but folds up to make a nice 4x4 card.)
I have inked up the paisley background alot from Cornish Heritage Farms. I love the size of them, and the detail. One of the other stamps of mine that has seen a lot of ink these days is, "Make It Count" from Close to My Heart. I love this set. I love the fact that I can stamp the 'hands' to make the clock read whatever time I want. In my last post, I made the clock stamp (about) the time it was when I was washing dishes and snapping the picture, moments before heading out the door. I was at first a little worried about the "hands" being small, but I have quickly come to appreciate the flexibility and what it adds to the art. Thanks ever so much for stopping in again.

play tonight. With the help of some goodies from a dear friend, I had everything I needed to play tonight. I really needed to take a break from the constant go-go-go! and force myself to slow down and play a little.

Last Sunday morning was a beautiful morning. My DD had the table all set for breakfast, and we had time to spare before piling in the van and heading off to church. I wish ever morning was like this. The kids were out in the glorious sunshine playing while I washed up dishes. I love moments like these that touch my heart,make me stop, grab my camera and record it. It was a timeless Sunday morning. Divine in all the sense of the word. And I managed to scrap it. Yeah!!

It's a wonder....

that I even get to blog as much as I have. So I hope you will pardon me when I seem to get so busy that,well, something has to give! LOL. I have been busy (multi) party planning, getting ready to finish up another homeschooling year. Just met with our facilitator yesterday! WHEW! Getting ready for the next year (shopping, more shopping, and researching. It was also our anniversary this month. BIG 12. Well, ok. maybe not so big in the grand scheme of things, but a wow, still. I need not bore you with how busy we are, chances are you are just as busy yourself, right? If we get a chance to blog, it's to check out all the action, get inspired and create something. I wish I could play a little tonight. But tonight has a list of things to do that will fill the evening quiet well. So here's a little bit of an oldy.
Do you scraplift? I think we all do at some point. Let's face it, when a design works, you got the pictures, and don't have the time. It's a perfect fit. I like the satisfaction that creating something myself brings, but before I get too excited, chances are that someone else has already done the samething. You know that old saying, "Great minds thing alike!". It's true in the scrapworld too. So here is one of my scraplifts last year. This was our anniversary page I made last year of a little trip My DH and I managed to take last year.
And since I am being such a terrible blogger, I might as well add to the fact that I don't even have the reference as to who I scraplifted it from. I know it was a magazine, I want to say "Paper Trends", but I am not sure. If you have the magazine and can recall it for me, that would be great. Let me know, I would love to give them the credit as it does not belong to me.

Best way to spend Mother's Day

I have enjoyed getting ready this year for Mother's Day. Seems like we've been working on it for awhile. Had to collect the rocks (long walk down to the river-took most of the morning), had to wash the rocks,

then paint them. Wait for paint to dry and then paint again. I had so much fun watching them paint their rocks. It's a little hard for me sometimes to "let them at it". I tend to think it needs to be perfect and a certain way. But I reprogrammed myself and just let them have fun. It is the best way really, that I can think of, to celebrate Mother's Day. Just being together and celebrating that God has given me four WONDERFUL children to bless my life.
Here's how I am choosing to (hopefully) bless my mothers. One is for my Mom, and the other for my Mother-in-law. They both love their garden, so these are for there gardens, and the kids painted some rocks for them to put in there too.

So with Mother's day coming up, I have been stamping my heart out. Been stamping with some of my new goodies from Cornish Heritage Farms. Ya know it all started with buying a few Thomas Kinkade images so I could make some nice gifts for my wonderful Mother-in-law. Turns out I am loving more than just the TK images. I started stamping with acrylics, never had even touched rubber. But who doesn't love quality stuff right? So I have fallen deep. Deep into CHF. I am loving their backgrounders, and well.... see for yourself!!

Idea BreakOUT

So you remember that idea I had the other night? We'll I got it on paper this afternoon. I am pretty happy how this worked out, but I must say the stitching on this one, NEEDS some work. I was trying to make a card for a Friend of mine who is trying to loose some inches (I'm trying too). She loves this stuff.......

Sorry the pictures aren't that great. These are pictures from magazines all the way back to 1993,LOL!! But they litteraly through me into "INSIRATION" and I had to try it. SO this afternoon, I had to, because now I had a NEED to. Here's the random stamped paper I created...........(used Beloved Blossoms, Weathered Backgrounds, Adorable Backgrounds, colors are Moonstruck, and Dutch Blue. There might even be some Indian Corn blue, can't remember.

And here's my idea in it's card form, I hope you like it. Stamp sets used to complete the card are Make It Count and HodgePodge Alphabet. Too tired to say anymore tonight. Sweet Dreams and see ya in the morning,LOL

Well, honestly, I do get these done on time (mostly). I just don't seem to find the time to post until after, so you'll just have to trust me that I DO get them done on time.
I used scraps from a different paper craft earlier this week, basically didn't think to much, just made sure it would fit the top of my card and went with the flow on this one. the night delights of a blogger, scrapping MOM!!

Tonight was just a hoot all around!! It was a good school day, and I was hankering to get down and "play" a little tonight. I had BIG plans, and wanted to get two ideas I had onto paper tonight. Did that happen? NOPE!!!! Am I happy, YEP!! Tonight turned out better than I had planned. {love it when that happens}. As I was pulling things out and getting things ready to get started on my ideas, I ended up taking a pleasant turn and changed my focus for the evening. I meant to do two cards, and ended up on a layout with pictures I didn't even have in my to do box. I needed to pause my work and go put my boys into bed. What a delight to put them into bed. Only Dylan would go to bed with knee pads on. He says he needs them just in case he falls out of bed,LOL. What's a Mom to do. Well, a scapbooking mom takes pictures of it and (desperately) intends on scrapbooking it. Here's the picture.....

And if you think that's funny.........after I got the boys tucked in and settled in...I returned to my scraproom where my daughter was. She was left with all my creations for this evening, (and because a true crafter will have many things on his/her table to create with} she had decided to play a little herself. Feline Friday (except it's Sunday,shhhhhh!)

This week my Feline Friday card is based on Proverbs 17:22 and a song I have in my home library. The song is called "Keep on the Sunny Side" by the Fehr Family singers. You can check them out here. This is one of my favorite CD's by them. It also a very encouraging song a message worth remembering. So with this song and the scripture verse as my guide, I wanted somethig bright and sunny. I chose Sunlight yellow textured cardstock from Close to My Heart. {This is one of those cards where the picture probably won't due it justice.} I stamped my flowers in Versa Mark, then used my chalks and rubbed yellow chalk over the stamped flowers. I wanted something subtle so as not to over power the quote, and it looks and feels so velvety!! I am quite happy with it, especially since I don't pull out my chalks very often. I also was eager to try stitching on my card. I like the front, but I am not too happy with the inside. The tension is fine, I just don't know that I like looking at that on the inside of my card. So I'm not sure what to do about that. So there's another one completed, and this week I tried to make sure I worked on at least two at once, these next two months are going to be really busy.

Keeping myself Organized (instyle!!LOL)

Being and staying Organized is a challenge for me. It is not something that comes easy at all. So I put some fabric I had to some good use....in an effort to help me stay organized and on top of my tasks. Remember that Damask fabric I had bought awhile back, well, I decided to use it (not hoard it like I normally do with things I like). I had been listening to some instructions, sermons and being organized, and being a Proverb's 31 woman. I am NO WHERE near being a "noble" woman. However it is what I seek to be. So that is how this project came about. I just love how this project has come together.
Here's the outside of my organizational binder:

I love the little dangling jewel. Can you believe it's an earring? Bought them for less than 2 bucks.

I had a little trouble deciding what "title" to give this little binder. I wanted to put "Proverbs 31", or "organize it", and "HOME" or "Sonja" just didn't sound right. So I went with "Work", because that's what it is. Some "work" I enjoy more than others (like decorating this binder,LOL), but Proverbs 31 also talks about how a woman of noble character also works with her hands. So I thought this was fitting. However, if I change my mind later on, I can easily put something else there. The metal letters were a Dollar Store find it you can believe it! And I had to stamp the "Lovely Lace" stamp from CTMH to tie the crocheted ribbon on the inside (get to that in a second).

On the back I really wanted a ribbon to come and loop around my crystal. But I also wanted to be able to change the length of the loop. Sometimes I will have it fuller than other times. If the loop is too long, it won't stay shut, if it's too short it won't either. So it had to be just right. SO I cut my ribbon long enough and knotted it (this too is a CTMH product), making it easy to change the length. I used a CTMH metal ribbon accent for this. I also wanted to re-enforce it a little. SO I added a bit of Chocolate brown felt and stitched it in some Aqua thread.

I would like to do something on the front cover of each tab, but I am still deciding on how I want that to look. I have a few ideas, but time gets the better of most of them. I couldn't get organized though until this was done, right? LOL
I haven't taken my sewing machine out in well over a year (to my mother's shame), but I am glad I dusted it off and put it to some good use again. Now maybe I can have a shot of staying organized and finding things when I need it.

For the inside I will probably have to add more tabs. But for now, well, you get the idea. I used some circle metal rimmed tags and some crocheted ribbon with different flowers. This way I will memorize what flower if for what category, and be able to flip to it easily. Have I told you how much I am loving how this is looking!!

So after our family Friday games night {gotta love Monopoly} It was down to my little room for a little while. Being Friday, it's also Feline Friday. So here's this weeks card. I am really pleased with it. Picked up some more sale paper, and this came together relatively easily tonight. (usually there's a lot of paper pushing) The verse I chose this week was 1 Cor. 9:23-27, which talks about the race we run as believers. I thought this was fitting, reminding the reader to run the race as to get the prize. Making sure you have the proper training so that you are not stopping short of the end, like this little kitty quote. But on the contrary.. pressing toward the mark. Training is essential, as well as perseverance. I wanted to get the idea of running around "like mad" from the quote. So I looked in my stash of supplies, and this is what I came up with. I think the swirls accomplish that idea well.

It seems I don't post for a while (sorry), and then I get lots all at once. I have a few other things to share, but I'll save them for later.
Normally on Friday's I do my Feline Friday post. However, this week got the better of me, and well, it didn't even get done until this afternoon. I didn't even have enough time to post before heading back out the door. So here it is. You should recognize a little influence from one of my favorite Bloggers, Julia. I love her cards!! Can't say that enough. This is this weeks card, focusing on the verse from Proverbs 4:7, which encourages the reader to seek after Wisdom and Understanding above all else. The card used some of my favorite colors,and scraps. I love Aqua, and I had to play with a few new goodies. I love making cards because it is such a fun, quick way to experiment with techniques and design.

Fact #1
I am the oldest of four, and I am the only girl. Here's the weird part, (don't really like that word, but..) I HAVE FOUR CHILDREN myself. Oldest is a girl, then three boys. I remember being told by my brothers when we were expecting any day to meet our fourth child, that if it wasn't a boy, well, we got it wrong! They were having such a fun time with that. They are great uncle's!!!
Fact #2 (we'll see how far I can get?)
I went to Africa when I was 16 for almost 7 weeks. Was proposed to even before I left the airport! What 16 year old gets proposed to? Then twice more before the trip was over. First two weren't really serious, but the third one kind of scared me a little!!

My birthday is on SEPTEMBER 11.

I LOVE my MOTHER IN LAW!!! I wish that were more common.

I miss our little MR2!! I have always told my DH that I loved driving that car just as much as he did. We took that little car for a little two week drive. It was so much fun. And he let me drive as much as he could, it's torcher for him to sit in the other seat. I drove that car for almost three years, every day to work. I loved everyminute of it. When we found out we were expecting our first, life changed. Happy to do it, but it was only a two seater, so where are you suppose to put a car seat? This car sat, and sat, and sat, and sat, until my DH finally sold it to someone who would have the same love for it. I was just as sad to see it go. Here's one of the layouts I did (long time ago, as you can probably tell). But was such a fun car, that's all I can say. We've even talked about renting one, taking it for another little road trip?

Fact #6
There's something about elephants!! Once when my DH and I were dating, a friend (who was a really joker) asked me to mouth the words "elephant shoes" to my DH from across the room. (note: I'm real gullable sometimes) So I did. Found out it looks likes "I love you" when you do that. ( You might already know this, but remember this was some 10+ years ago! LOL Anywho, it kinda stuck for us. Infact the card that my husband used to propose had two elephants on it. (so romantic, right? YUP!!!) So here's the "weird" part, (remember, I don't really like the word "weird"). First day of being married, we were driving out of town, headed down to Waterton National Park. (It's so beautiful there!!! We were there in May, and it was like a Ghost town, only newly married couple there. Got realy treated well. Anywho...) As we were leaving the city, this newly married, blissful couple, were enjoying being together and heading somewhere. As most passengers do, you look out at the scenery around you. As I looked up into the clouds, I could see what appeared to be the shape of an elephant. And just to make sure it wasn't my giddy, emotional self, I ask my DH to take a look. He too could make it out. I still remember that, and how something so little could be so comforting at the same time. Coming from a broken home, I am sure my Heavenly Father knew there would be storms ahead, and gave this little sign to me as a reminder. It has remained a blessing to me still. I should also mention that because of the endearment that elephants have had to us, I found some stuffed ones before we got married. My wonderful mother-in-law helped take the scraps from my wedding dress and make one for the little elephant couple. Everyone thoght it strange at the wedding. We never really explained it to everyone. But we knew they were there. And guess what......I scrapped them too. And they are up in our bedroom closet still to this day.

And here we are with Fact #7 (and I didn't think I could do it,HA!)

Oh, how about when I was pregnant with my first, my DD kicked my so hard that my DH felt it on his side of the bed!!! It was amazing!! She was active in, and is still just as active out!! (not really a surprise, considering that the scripture says, He forms us in the womb) But that was a moment that stand out!

And I don't know why spell check isn't co-operating. Just as well. I got one more thing to share before the night is over.

It's been a SWEET night!!

What a beautiful day, and a sweet night. Kids broke out the construction paper, scissors and markers. Used some of my CTMH boxes and made themselves cars. So while they were playing and getting along very well, I decided to finish the project I had started yesterday afternoon.
I decided to make a little gift pack of 20 or so cards for someone really special. I know she will be in need of some "thank you" cards in mass quantities. And even though 20 doesn't sound like much. Any papercrafter will tell you otherwise. Yet somehow it still seems like so little.
So I started yesterday afternoon in between church services,and just finished them up. (of course in between that I slept, ate, vacuumed, schooled the kids, put them to bed etc..... So don't think it took me THAT long to make them,LOL)
I was a wonderful time with my DD "B" who helped me. Even my son thought it was really cool to watch my score down my black paper in my cutter. SO much so that he wanted to try when I was done, and was thrilled beyond belief when I gave him my scraps!! It takes so little to make them happy sometimes. Tonight it was cardboard boxes and scraps!! So it was a sweet night!! I love night like that.
Last night was really sweet too!!! I was treated out to a wonderful dinner with Trish (she's bookmarked on the side there). What a blessing a true friend from the Lord is!!! It refresh your very soul.

It's working out really well to do these on Friday night. After a full week of homeschool, chores, errands, etc... I don't feel bad if the kids watch a little video while I work next to them in the craft room. It's a nice way to unwind and relax a little. Tonight they are watching a Lassie video and eating popcorn.

things are never dull with four lively children!! LOL. (if you didn't know, we homeschool). I have one son who loves quiet, well, at least when he's doing his school work. With a younger 4yr old, not in school, he is allowed to play (as quiet as I can get him) while the rest of us do school. My four year old does fabulously well though for having to "stay put" and do his best to keep quiet. So my son decides that it is still too loud. He left the room briefly, and when he came back he had these on.........

Hey!! A boys gotta do what a boys gotta due!!! LOL

I give him credit though. He solved the noise problem well. Now, if he could only hear ME!!LOL

I love ALL the cards that Julia Stainton makes. (She's book marked on the right there, under "All Things Beautiful",- Belle Papier) She is SO creative and I love here classy style! So I decided to give one of her cards a try. I had a lot of scraps laying around that were left over from various projects, and I was just in the mood for playing. I don't have near the creative touch that she has, but it's always fun to just "muck a'bout" in my craft room. So here's my little version, not as good as Julia's but I hope you like it.

I just had to pick up this fabric at Wal-mart last night in my travels. I am a sucker for anything with Damask!!! It's black on a really nice heavy canvas type material. Good and sturdy!! I don't even know what I will do with it yet. I've thought of covering my scrapbooking chair with it, or maybe even doing a little altered scrapbooking art with it, similar to Donna Downey's little FABULOUS kit. For now, it's thrown over my chair making me quiet happy just to look at it. If I DO end up getting around to doing anything with it, you know I WILL POST IT!!

I was intending on posting this yesterday. Makes sense right, Feline FRIDAY. I was so wonderfully blessed to see how the Lord works, that I just had to share this. I have made a promise to pray for a lady I know everyday for the next year. ( Who couldn't use a little pick'me up, right?)I figured I would make a special card for her once a week. I incorporated the deck of cards that I have been seeing people do. SO I head to the dollar store to pick one up. I thought it would be nice to put a verse on the card too. So I found a deck with a cute little kitty cat on it. That's a no brainer, she loves kitties!!! "I'll take one of those!!" I said. Then I head of to the local scrap store, trying to find anything to do with cats for the cards I'll make over the next year. Now, I don't know anyone who doesn't love a good bargain!!! Well with all the new products coming in, they gotta get rid of some stuff right!? They have a 70% off section. Gotta love that, right?!!! So what do I find but a quiet a few goodies with kitty cat images, quotes, etc... I was so BLESSED!!! And if that weren't enough, they then took an additional 25% off!!! Are you seeing the blessing too? So now I think I have what I need to make all the cards. I don't know if I'll post every one that I do, but here's the first one and all the goodies I got from the 70% of section.
I love it when the Lord works things out so perfectly, and this isn't the first time. I know it won't be the last too!!

International Friendship RAK

Third layout

So happy to get another page done! {As my other son says,"Mommy, where's mine?"} I just chuckled. I guess I should do one for him next. They really love seeing their pictures done this way. Makes 'em feel pretty special, even though they already are.

This was another fun one to make. I had to crack open my new Serendipity order. Love the blues in this pack!!! But I don't like it when I am working well, and my block drops out of my hand and onto the layout. AHHH! So I had to stamp my capital 'H' where it is. Maybe you can't see it, but I know it's there. Sometimes unintended happenings create better art than you originally intended. {this wasn't one of those times} And sometimes you just have to live with the mistake.

Journaling read: A good nap always did you well! You were not a grumpy little boy....but a good nap always had you up and ready to GO again...It was always fun to come and get you up and out of your crib....I love my little boy. {MOM}

I want to share a layout I just finished. I love these pictures of my little darling. I remember back to these days. Those shoes, they were like a size 2 or something. SO small. She's in much bigger shoes now. These pictures just remind me of the priveldge and delight of being her mom.

{I had to incorporate the little buckle on her shoes somehow. So I took a chipboard ribbon slide from Close to My Heart and embossed it in silver. I think it did the trick.}

A fun reason to post.

Well, I've not posted in a little while, we all had the sickies!!! We were just completely drained. And we lost about 4 days of school. And can I say just how hard it is to get up and get going again. We had 4 days of school to get caught up on, and get the house all back together. Thankfully there wasn't much laundry as we had spent the sick days in our PJ's. Always something to be thankful for, right?
Visiting other paper fanatics and their blogs is a lot of fun. Which leads me to where I am going. Erin over at http://inkysmiles.blogspot.com/ is looking for some "masculine" cards. So this just makes it so easy for me to pick something to share. (like easy). One was done for my Husband, son, and the other, well it's a no brainer, it only says "DAD" on it!! LOL.

My first layout of the Year!!!!

It feels so good to get a layout done!! My first for the year. I've been wanting to get these pictures scrapped for awhile now. These pictures are about 4 years old. Terrible isn't it!!??? But I am so glad it wasn't scrapped until now. I will be much happier with this over time now. I even had a little help from my daughter too. She's developing quite the eye. I moove elements around and she is quick to say,"No Mom", sometimes she just shakes her head, and other times she's right in there with me. I love getting her "opinion", as she surprises me sometimes with her ideas and suggestions.
I have left the layout as it is, even thought I think I should add "JUST ONE MORE THING",,, AHHHHH!!! I shouldn't of done it. So before I hear myself say that, I've stoppped. I need to get more than one layout done this year, right??? LOL!!!

Felt like making you laugh this afternoon. Hopefully this I'll do the trick. It's a good way to start out the new year...CHEERFUL. I have one son who keeps me laughing. They are on my 'to scrap' list for 2008. Get ready to hold your tummy....

Starting with a card I made this last summer for my father's birthday. PLAID was "IN" remember? Those were the days, weren't they? My dad used to turn our coffe table {which he built} into a slide in our living room. WEEEEEE! I can still remember it. Laughter!! It was such fun!

And these, well, I just have to get them scrapped somehow this year. This little man of mine cracks me up ALL THE TIME!!! His humor lights my way, I tell ya. The good Lord knew exactly what I would need with the fourth child, alot of HUMOR!! For instance, I WISH I had a picture of this, but I don't. Over the holidays I was taking my son to use the washroom {his other nickname is "FULL THROTTLE", after the energy drink my DH drinks sometimes}and he runs to the washroom. He runs so fast, he falls INTO the tub head first, and feet up in the air. I tell you it was the funniest thing I had ever seen. I could have made my cool million on America's Funniest Home Videos, if only I had it on tape.LOL!!!

Life is FunnY!! You just gotta laugh at it sometimes.

May you seek His face in all you do! And if you do not yet know the Lord, I pray that this is the year that you would seek to know Him more, with all your heart. For God is a loving and compassionate God who cares deeply for you. I am reminded of how God cares for the birds of the air in Matthew 6:25-27. God's word reminds us of how much more valuable we as humans are to Him than these. And if he cares for them, will he not care for you??? Will you trust Him with your heart this New Year!!
This year we purchased and "opened" one of our gifts early. We welcomed Pearl and Zack into our home. I share with you these pictures, and may they be a visual reminder to you of how much the Heavenly Father cares for {YOU}!!!!!

A little Vintage Christmas

I love all things 'old'. I love talking to older people,( and the older I get, the harder that is to do, LOL!!!). I love shopping for antiques, and finding some 'one of a kind' things.
And sometimes I just like to play with my supplies and see what comes out. I love this Vintage Christmas stamp ( now retired ). I bought it specifically for the sleigh image. I did a little poking around the net to see what colors, and designs are typically used, and it helped me a lot. Playing is so much fun!!!!!!! And I am glad to see my daughter is catching the "BUG" too. Well, so, here's the card I had a lot of fun playing with. And thanks for stopping by!!!!!!!!

My Christmas cards this year.........

Gave one to as many as I could. I try to be a thrifty person, and was able to stamp the lace ( one of CTMH's newest stamps) right onto the card front. So all I had to cut was the ribbon, Chocolate, and Colonial White cardstock. ( and the star too, sorry forgot that one) If that wasn't thrifty enough, the ribbon doesn't even go 'ALL' the way behind the 'little town'. This way I could glue it right down, and knew it would stay. But SHHHHHHH!!!, don't tell anyone 'K'???!!!!!

Advent Calendar

Now here's something that took a little more time and effort than I had originally thought. I have plans yet to make one for myself too, hopefully. I went and bought a tart tin at Wal-Mart, selected my paper and got to work. I really wanted to use the 'Bethlehem' set from Close to My Heart because I wanted it to be a count down to Christ's birth. I learned a lot doing this advent calendar. Like NOT to use my CM, green cutter again for this project. It's just too hard on it. I will have to think of a substitute, or I am brain storming using the lids from my tomato paste. Holiday Gifts

With most of the holidays, and gift giving over, I can now post some of the things that I have been busy making for gifts. Here's some of them.....
I was so delighted when I found http://www.cornishheritagefarms.com/intro.php. This is where I purchased some Thomas Kinkade stamps, and made some cards for my mother-in-law for Christmas. Thomas Kinkade brings her a lot of joy. So when I saw these stamps, I knew what to do for her for Christmas. I look forward to making more of them for her in the future.
And in all the hustle and bustle of Christmas, I didn't even take pictures of the bundle of cards I made for her. Too much to do. But these were the cards that I first made to get my "juices flowing", hopefully making it easier for me to create mass amounts of them. I was given a beautiful little book that I altered and am in the process of putting all my samples in, hopefully making it easier for me to pick paper to go with what I have. Saving me time and money. I will share that with you soon too.

This one was made for my Pastor's wife as a little something extra with the gift I gave her. It's made with CTMH's paper, PANSY PURPLE. That's her favorite color, and I thought she could use it as an anniversary card. Hopefully she liked it?!

Altered Picture Frame

I picked up a whole bunch of these at a Liquidation Store here in town. I love making these for gifts and personalizing it. I thought this turned out so cute. The picture of the little baby is of my {now 8 year old} little girl. Yikes, where does the time go??!!!! I just thought her picture would look so cute in there. And it does. This is absolutely, with out a shadow of a doubt, my favorite baby picture of my precious little girl. I hope my neighbour finds this to her taste. It's their first Christmas with their precious little one. How exciting to think back to our first Christmas with our little girl. Oh, to go back would be splendid, for they grow up all too fast.

I am also busy trying to enjoy the holidays and spend some time with family. Today my daughter had another little tea party. We went ice skating. It was a lot of fun!!

I am at least twice blessed!!!
Well, as Christmas is approaching very rapidly, I am busy as a bee preparing. Also trying to get the last of the children's studies in.(We homeschool) But today's post is about two friends the Lord has blessed me with. Great testimonies and a great source of encouragement for me. Since I joined Close to My Heart, I was surprised to meet up again with a friend I knew at a church I used to attend. It's an amazing story really. Trish has become a great friend, with lots in common. Most importantly our faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. We also share a paper crafting passion, which is how me met on the CTMH boards. It is NOT by chance that we have been reintroduced to each other. We have been talking alot on the phone. And at the end of November she made her way down here for a lovely visit. I would love to have her come down again, not because she spoiled me (thanks again Trish!!), but because she is a delight to my soul.
There's another friend who has been a delight to my soul for the last 8 years. She is appropriately named Grace. Let's just say there is a lot of memories one collects over eight years!!!! One of them being every year we have gotten together to celebrate the birthdays of our boys, who are 9 days apart, since birth. But the Lord has moved their family on. I would be lying to say I was happy/ecstatic to see them go. But I know when and where the Lord leads, you follow. I have done this before not that long ago in fact. And the older I get the more I realize my best friend is with me all the time. A young girl thinks she needs a "BEST" friend. But how vain is that. I have so much growing up to do. It's not to say that friends aren't needed. But I am called to "be" one first. I don't usually set out to share so much on this blog of personal thoughts! This blog is more about sharing my creation with others who might appreciate it, maybe even use it. My creations, as you have seen, usually have a purpose, with someone in mind to receive them. This time I share with you another card box that I made for Grace as a going away gift. I love picking up these boxes and recovering them to make them more personal. Her favorite color is red. I thought this paper and style of box went well enough together. I made a few dividers for the inside and a couple of pens. It's a good ensemble!!?? And let's not forget, a matching card that has all that sappy stuff that girls write down and then cry over,LOL!!!!

a little "Blue" to Cheer!!

When Close to My Heart came out with a new "E" sized stamp, I was in love with it instantly!!! They are a great size, not too big, not to small. Even better yet, it came WITH numbers! So as I had need to make a card, I found myself using the new set I got. It's called Homestead Alphabet. This particular card was made with someone who's favorite color is Blue. So after a little playing around, this is what happened. Not one of my favorites, but I hope she will feel the sentiment behind it. Hopefully this little "Blue" card can give a little CHEER!!

My NEW Room

I am so loving my new room!!!!!! It is wonderful. I find it very relaxing and easy to work in. I have a few more things I am planning on doing in here. I have a few more shelves and things I would like to put up, but don't want to put any unwanted holes in my walls until I am absolutely sure of their place.

I got around to making some flower pens that I have been wanting to make for a loooooong time now. Micheal's had a sale, 40% off ALL their flowers, so the timing was great. Ofcourse pickng colors was easy> I love green, and you can never go wrong with white. I also added a brown one and put a little BLING in the middle. It gives my room a little warm, cozy, pretty feel. Just looking at these flowers makes me happy. I still have to get some beans, or something to fill the container with. But all in due time, right? LOL.

I also picked up some of these goodies along my shopping travels. The basket was a gift. I turned it into my photo storage of the pictures I most want to scrap. Here they are organized and ready to go. I had fun decorating the basket last night. Now I have to fill it with pictures, and I'll probably add a few more dividers too. And my little yellow canisters are an old Bathroon line from Martha Stewart I picked up at a Liquidation Store for next to nothing. I'm planning on putting the tools I use the most in them to have in arms reach. My paper piercer is one of the first things to go in there. And one of my favorite pieces is my Lazy Susan. Picked this up at a Garage Sale a few years ago for 10 bucks. I finally have an great use for it!! I'm gonna love having that on my table.

SAD but TRUE

It was indeed my Camera!! Congratulations----scrappernic!!! You guessed right. On the first try too! I think I am still in shock!!!!! I can not believe how thankful I am even though my camera seems to have vanished. The last weekend in October I was honored to be trusted to take pictures at a Wedding reception of a couple we know. I can't even imagine how horrible I would feel if I had lost those pictures. Thankfully as soon as I got home that night I saved all 600 and then some, pictures. So they are safe on my computer ready to be burned. It was Thursday night I went to take a picture of a card I made and upload, and post it and share it with you. And as you know I couldn't find the camera anywhere. It still insists on hiding from me. I say hiding because I will feel like the world's worst fool if I say it was stolen and it decides to show up. I still can't figure out this mystery. I have a hard time believing I could be that careless with my camera. Especially not notice the minute it was gone. Worse yet I will never leave it in the van again. I will also be putting my name, and phone number somewhere on it. This way if a it I ever am careless again, and a good Samaritan happens upon it, I will stand a chance at getting it back.
I miss it alot!! I use it all the time. What scrapbooker doesn't, LOL. We bought it last year for our Ten Year anniversary. It's going to take awhile to be able to save up to buy a new one!!

In the mean time though, a dear friend has offered to lend me their extra camera! Isn't that just a BLESSING!!!! So I will be able to post pictures soon. Oh, ya, and my room is done! Moving the furniture in tonight!!! So when I get that all pretty and organized I'll post that too. There will be so much to post as soon as I have a camera to work with. In the mean time I will enjoy setting up my creative zone!!

The last time I know I had it, was last Sunday morning. After that it's a complete mystery to me. I've need it at Church for the last 6 or so weeks. Last Sunday was no different. So I took it, and was intending on using it. However, it turned out that I wouldn't have need of it for this particular Sunday, but would need to try again for next Sunday. Either DH or myself took it down to the van after services, can't remember who, as all the Sunday's we've carried it to Church seemed to have rolled into one. It would have been placed behind the two front seats, in the middle, on the floor along with an album I've been working on. This Sunday was a special Sunday. We had a Baptismal service to attend at 2 in the afternoon. So we grabbed a quick lunch at DH Shop, then went to the special service. I only brought my purse in. Then after the service, we went home. Again, as I can't remember one time from the next, yet I am very certain it was me that brought the items in from the van and into the house. Thursday night, I tried to find one of the items that I had brought in from the van. ONLY I CAN"T FIND IT!!!!! Panic!!! We search everywhere!!!! You know, when you look 20 times in the same spot hoping maybe this will be the time that you see it!! I was not so fortunate. I still can't find it!!! I am still unwilling to say that it was stolen, because I know we humans can be careless sometimes. But I am leaning that way if it doesn't show up soon!!! I just can't believe I can't find it!!! It's not an easily replaces item. Well, before I give anything else away..........any guesses?

Before Pictures

Well. It's being worked on. DH put one coat of paint on it today. Probably has to do another one when this one is dry. Then I get to set my "play station" up. I'll post pictures of the empty painted room just as soon as the second coat is on and dried. Since my DH is a painter he had left over paint and the equipment to do this job fairly quickly. I don't even want to think about how long it would have taken little old "ME" to do this. I am very grateful. And he was happy to use up some extra paint he had sitting in his shop, not being used.
In the mean time, I have more than a few other projects calling my name. But this is progress, and I am so excited!!

Ribbon Inspiration

When I saw this ribbon, I loved it!! And now that my ribbon is all organized I had a hankering to create something. All the products I used were Close to my Heart, with the exception of the ribbon. Aqua has always been one of my favorite colors, which would probably explain why I was so drawn to this ribbon. I can remember even coloring with that color with my pencil crayons while we traveled growing up. I remember it destinctively. I think I am pretty happy with this card, what do you think?

Getting Ready

I am patiently waiting for DH ( who's incredibly busy)to get the time to paint my new craft room. Which is done in his spare time. (Who came up with this, so called "Spare time" anyway??LOL) But while I am waiting, I figured I had a lot of organizing to do, LOL. So I have started with my ribbon. I have seen a lot of ribbon storage ideas. THis one seemed to suit my style, and my needs. So I went with it. I really don't remember where I saw this, but I really liked it. I cut up really good cardboard boxes and then covered them in craft paper. Boy, was that time consumming!!!!! I either taped the ends, or used little mini safety pins I picked up at the Dollar Store. Works great!! I have two of these white metal baskets, and I only filled one. Should I buy more ribbon??? LOL! I just love looking at all the colors. Should give me lots of inspiration don't you think?

WOOOOAH HOOOOO!!

O.K. I really can't believe I just did that!! Amazing!! I am such a computer dumbo. I can never figure out all the lingo my husband and brothers use half the time. Really I can't. I am just tickled that I was able to get this up and running. Now I've been able to put up a talking mini me!!!. Well, sorta looks like me. Not really. But hey, it's pretty cool. That is my scraproom behind that pretty lady you see. That has since been taken down and I am getting a NEW SCRAPROOM. WOOOOOAH HOOOOOO!! I never thought I would even get a whole room to myself. Well, not entirely, I am sure my kids will be in there from time to time. And I do have to share it with a few boxes that need to be stored and our Freezer. But hey, I am still one happy lady. I mooved everything out yesterday. DH says he will paint in mayber later this week. SO in all reality, lets face it, life takes it's time. I could have it done by the end of the month, or next. LOL When I get it done, I'll post my pictures. So today, I have alot to look forward to. I'm so excited!

I once lived in Texas and have very fond memories of my life lived there. I was young, so life was good. �I remember our neighbour who, when his grandson would come to visit, we would ride his quad and dirt bike out back behind the house. �There was a large treed area out behind the house that we could get lost in for hours. It probably wasn't as big as I remembered it. But in my childhood mind it was big! �I remember walking home from school. I remember snow cone day at school. I remember Six Flags and their 12 foot hot dogs. �I remember the park with the pond, where we would feed the ducks and watch people fish. �I remember the Christmas where my Grandmother paid for me to have my ears pierced. I remember the star that my Grandfather made out of tin foil for our tree. �We used it for years! �I remember so much. But still my one of my favorite memories was of the friendship that I mad with C.H. When it came time for me to move, we made one last stop of Braun's Ice Cream Store, ( remember VERN! LOL). �We then wrote letters for a long while after. �Then, somehow, time expanded and we lost touch. �Ten years later our youth group was going to a conference in the city where I lived. So I decided to look her up and give her a call. �So it was that we sat down to a dinner and caught each other up to speed, and drove through the old neighborhood. A few more years passed. �I couldn't seem to get a hold of her again. It seemed I had lost contact with her. �Than came this contest I had entered. I needed to find some pictures to scrap �with what I was suppose to use. �I was drawing a blank. �Then I remembered my trip down to Texas and the pictures I had of the two of us. �So I got started. But I was still s little curious of where she was and what she was doing. �Someone I know suggested a few things to try and find her. So I started looking around. �It wasn't long before I was able to connect a few dots together. �I found a number. �I decided, what have I got to loose!? If it was the wrong number, than so what, right? �Well, she answered the phone!!!!! I was amazed that I was able to recognize her voice right away. �It was �a good long talk and a later one than I should have dared, had I been more careful of the time difference. �It was a real treat to receive updated pictures of her and her family. It was a blessing beyond measure to see how the Lord works and directs our lives and how much we fundamentally have in common. �It was also a blessing that I wasn't anticipating to reconnect with her. �And now I have �a memory dear to my scrapped!!

I just recently had a birthday. (not telling you how old I turned) It was a good one, I will say that.Even despite the fact that my birthday falls on 9-11. I had a few people who are very dear to me come over and we ate, talked and managed to get a few creations done. My DH took the kids out (did I mention I'm spoiled!!!?) and had the whole evening with my friends in complete serene!!! I love my children, but it was nice to have adult conversations. LOL� And it was a blessing to be with my friends.
One of my most treasured gifts this year was a new CD by a family we know who compile their own CD's. They are a testimony of true devotion to the Lord and I am encouraged every time I listen to their music. They have a few now, and we are enjoying learning as a family to sing along with the music. �Although I find it very difficult to find a favorite. I thought I would share their link should you care to check it out for yourself and hear a few �samples of their music. My husband new them growing up. I know it will bless you immensely!!! �It has blessed me!!!

What makes me HAPPY!!!

1.Chocolate, the more the merrier,LOL!! But give me real chocolate, not candy bars. BLAH!
2.When my DH brings his computer downstairs into my room and plays his game while I craft away--"Just so he can be with me!!"" {Love Him!!!}
3. When I get time to play and get something out of my brain that I have had bottled up for quit sometime. TOO many ideas and not enough time!!! This was one of those times. �Last night I got to copy an image out of the new IKEA catalog and make some more of my own Background paper. I am sure I will use this in many more ways and many more colors. �

Here's a 4x4 card I made with a matching envelope. �Make someone feel extra special with their accomplishments!!! �I used Close to My Hearts 4x4 envelope template and a sentiment�{Way�to�Go!} from a past stamp of the month. �I love velvet!! �So I had to use some of my new ribbon I got from Micheal's. �I love Rick Rack too, so the combination of the two were just too much to resist, LOL!
